Tate Modern opens powerful Hamilton exhibition with Antenna multimedia guide

The new Hamilton exhibition at the Tate Modern opens with a very special bespoke designed Antenna multimedia guide with over 26 stops, some rare video footage and a wealth of interviews with key people involved in the museum and the exhibition itself.

One of Britain’s greatest twentieth century artists, Richard Hamilton’s career spanned a remarkable 60 years, and the diversity of his work is impressive: different subjects, materials and creative techniques explored in depth and in ways which are truly inspiring. The multimedia tour looks carefully at these, discusses his interest in design, the motives behind his political statements, and the power of some of his most influential paintings, for example, “The Citizen”, which was inspired by Newsnight’s footage of the Maze prison. This footage is included in the guide.

Commentary is provided by the Curator of International Art Mark Godfrey, Assistant Curator Hannah Dewar, Alice Rawsthorn, author of Hello World: Where Design Meets Life and Victoria Walsh, Head of Curating at the Royal College of Art and Project Director for the reconstruction of the exhibition On Growth and Form. In addition to the Newsnight footage, there are 3 videos from BBC Motion Gallery, containing interviews with Hamilton and ex-lead singer of Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, who was his student at Newcastle University.
