Kulturhistorisches Museum Rostock is one of the oldest museums in Northern Germany. It displays collections of paintings, crafts, militaria, coins and furnishings in a 13th-century monastery. There is a permanent collection of sacred medieval art, the centerpiece of which is the former high altar of St. John’s Church, founded around 1440.
