The LWL-Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte offers a collection of over 350,000 paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, prints and coins, and 135,000 books from the Middle Ages through to the present. The 51 exhibition spaces focus on the Der Blau Reiter and Die Brücke art movements, and feature works by Heinrich Brabender, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Franz Marc, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, August Macke, Otto Piene, Gerhard Richter and Rosemarie Trockel, amongst many others.
