The Memphis Rock and Soul Museum began as a project of the Smithsonian Institute. The Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum’s collection provides a timeline of the development of rock and soul music and its links with the social and economic history of the people who created it. The museum tells the musical story of Memphis, known as “Home of the Blues” and “the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll.”
