Museo Pietro Micca

City: Turin
Country: Italy
Year Founded: 1961
Type of Institution: Historic and Heritage

The museum tells the story of the life of Pietro Micca. In 1706 Micca was involved in the Siege of Turin. He prevented a group of French soldiers entering the city through tunnels by blocking them with barrels of explosives. Although the explosion succeeded in stopping the French, Micca suffocated and died from the explosion. After seeing the exhibits, visitors can tour the extensive tunnels.
