Peterhead Prison came into existence in 1888 and closed as a prison institution in 2013. It was originally built to accommodate Scottish Prisoners who had been previously incarcerated in English prisons. It now operates as a museum and is managed by the Scottish Prison Service. Tours with headsets are provided for visitors to explore the Prison Museum at their own pace and find out more about its past.
