We love sound. I mean, we really love it. You can read all the reasons why we’re obsessed over on our blog but the main one is this: it moves us. Human brains are incredibly sensitive to sound and the right experiences resonate to our very soul. Recent Yale research reveals our sense of hearing is even stronger than sight when it comes to understanding emotion.
So to bring amazing sound to the ears of as many people as possible, over the last twelve months, we’ve been touring our Listening Lounge to cultural and museum conferences on both sides of the Atlantic.
Starting at MCN in Pittsburgh then moving to REMIX London, we’ll soon be at REMIX NYC. On the 23rd March, we take over The Planetarium at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
The Listening Lounge is a drop-in space with low lighting, comfy chairs, Bluetooth wireless headphones and curated playlists. Imagine a silent disco, without the dancing. Conference attendees can come at any time between sessions, meetings, or just when they need to take a break, close their eyes and open their ears.
A playlist might include a ten-minute podcast, a binaural experiment, a sonic landscape, a soundwalk, a piece of original music inspired by a painting, or an intimate first-person interview. The idea: to inspire.
If you’re coming to the summit, make sure you drop in and let us know about your experience by tweeting us with #ListeningLounge.
