“Through this transformation of properties inherent to materials and objects, Kapoor blurs the boundaries between nature, landscape, and art, allowing us to perceive space differently,” PAF’s release reads. “Kapoor invites us to experience the sheer perceptual wonder of an ordinary material like water made to behave in an extraordinary way.”
Do You Believe What You See or See What You Believe?
As I stand at the beach and watch the sunset, it is easy to see why our forefathers thought the earth was flat. One minute you see the sun, the next it is gone. The only hint that there is more is the light reflection into the night sky.
Art challenge us to see ordinary things in an extraordinary way. I also have a fondness for displaying extraordinary art in very ordinary ways which is what the Public Art Fund is bringing to Brooklyn Bridge Park this summer.
