McDonald's preserves ancient history in Italy with a side of fries

“We decided with McDonald’s to protect and promote this important site, which would have otherwise fallen again into oblivion,” the local archaeological superintendent for the Culture Ministry, Alfonsina Russo told the New York Times. Construction projects in Italy often turn up ancient ruins, but they are usually reburied, because “it’s better to protect them than to leave them exposed, when it’s not possible to properly care for them.”

How great is it that we have companies like McDonald’s that are working to honor our past and share it with the everyone! Kudos to McDonald’s and the team in Italy who are doing just that, they uncovered an Ancient Roman Road during construction of a new McDonald’s. Regardless if you go into the McDonald’s or not, you can now look down into our history to see the Ancient Roman Road. How cool is that?

What can we do to bring culture and history to life?
